Matteshot is made by Southbound Software, the trading name of a sole proprietor based in Kentucky, USA. It is free and open source. This page covers the software license, the Matteshot name, where official builds come from, and the matteshot.app website.
Matteshot is licensed under your choice of the MIT License or the Apache License, Version 2.0. Your use of the software is governed by the license you choose, and nothing on this page takes away a right it gives you.
In short, you can use, copy, modify and redistribute Matteshot, including commercially, as long as you follow the conditions of that license, such as keeping its copyright and license notices. The license texts are what count, not this summary.
Everything you make with Matteshot is yours. We claim no rights in your screenshots, recordings or edits.
As both licenses say, Matteshot is provided "as is", without warranties or conditions of any kind, and its authors are not liable for damages arising from its use. The exact wording is in the license texts. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that cannot be waived.
The licenses cover the code. They do not let anyone present their own build as Matteshot. The Matteshot name and icon identify official builds, which Southbound Software publishes and code-signs (Windows shows the signer as Brandon South).
Forks are welcome. If you publish your own build, give it a different name and icon so it is not mistaken for an official one. Saying your project is based on Matteshot is fine.

You are welcome to read, link to and quote matteshot.app. Do not attack it, overload it, or try to get around its security. If you find a security problem, report it as described in the security policy.
